Tip of the day!
Todays tip will be this lick treat for dogs! They come in three different tastes: chicken, bacon and beef. I have recently bought the one with taste of chicken and I must say that my dogs really love this one! With this Lick Treat you can train your dog without risking that your dog will be full or get too much treats, whenever you want to reward your dog you just let him/her lick the Lick Treat one time! Super good huh?!

Living with Wolves
Earlier today I watched the documentary Living with Wolves.. If you love wolves I can really recommend you to see it.. I was amazed when I saw what these two people had accomplished.. They were accepted by a pack of wolves and were able to live with them..
It is hard to describe in words how beautiful and how gripping story of this flock is. I really hope that all the people who hate wolves, watch this documentary and realize what wonderful creatures they are. Wolves deserve better than to be shot, after all it is we who have taken their land and forced them closer to our cities.

Lapponian Herder
Have you ever heard of the dog breed Lapponian herder? It is an old Finnish breed, it has for centuries helped Sami herding reindeer. It is a healthy breed, perfect to work with. Many trains Lapponian herding dogs in obedience, service and agility with good results. It is simply the perfect all-round dog.
About a month ago I started taking an interest in the breed and I have been looking for a kennel near here but with no luck. Recently, my sister moved to a new apartment, and the weekend that was, I was there and helped her move. I met her neighbor and it turned out that she had several Lapponian herding dogs and that she actually had a kennel where she breeds this particular breed. So this weekend I'll get there and meet her dogs, and who knows, maybe I own my very own Lapponian herder soon ....

Beautiful day!
The weather is so nice today! I went out with Lilja for a long walk, she played with sticks and ravaged around in the snow. We walked past a paddock with reindeer, Lilja who think reindeer are very interesting sat down and watched them for a while..
The Japanese Akita
The Akita is a large spitz breed of dog originating from the mountainous northern regions of Japan. There are now two separate strains: "Akita Inu" or "Japanese Akita" and "American Akita" or "Akita". The Japanese strain comes in selected colors only, with all other colors considered atypical of the breed, while the American strain comes in all dog colors.
The American strain of Akita is now considered a separate breed from the Japanese Akita in many countries around the world, with the notable exceptions of Australia, the United States and Canada. In the U.S. and Canada, both strains are considered a single breed with differences in type rather than two separate breeds. During a short period, the American strain of Akita was known in some countries as the "Great Japanese Dog". Both forms of Akita are probably best known worldwide from the true story of Hachiko, a loyal Akita dog who lived in Japan before World War II. The Akita is a strong, independent and dominant breed, commonly aloof with strangers but affectionate with family members. As a breed, Akitas are generally hardy, but they have been known to suffer from various genetic conditions and be sensitive to certain drugs.
This is Lilja, our lovely Japanese Akita!
